We always have one eye on the headlines when it comes to the built environment, renewables and the next new thing in marketing.

At the end of each month, we round up a few articles that caught our attention - whether they highlight construction industry trends, interesting perspectives or stats/predictions that should shape the way businesses approach their marketing.

We’re also busy behind the scenes writing for our clients, from website copy and blogs to social media posts and news-worthy press releases. So below, we’ve signposted some of our latest work, too.

Read on for this month’s top picks!

Reading List

Property industry warns Energy Minister over looming EPC minimum

This is one we’re watching closely, given the current housing crisis in the UK.

Landlords and letting agents are concerned about Labour’s plans to force rental properties to reach a minimum of EPC band C by 2030.

Key takeaway: NRLA Policy Director Chris Norris, said: “Pulling thousands, if not tens of thousands of homes from the rental market if they failed to hit the 2030 deadline would have a devastating impact on supply and affordability for tenants – the very people this legislation wants to support, so it is clear more work is needed on these timelines.”

Four in ten new homes built with solar, says Solar Energy UK

Data suggests that over 40% of new homes built in England in Q4 2024 were fitted with solar panels. That’s a significant increase from the final quarter of 2023, with only 13% of new builds reported to be fitted with solar installations.

Key takeaway: The proportion of new homes and buildings equipped with solar panels has increased by over three times in the past 12 months.

Will the upcoming Future Homes Standard mandate substantial solar installations on new homes?

Simply Learning appoints new managing director

Specialising in construction, utilities and green skills training, Simply Learning (previously Expedient Training) was acquired by our client, Simply Certification, and UK National in 2023 and has since been overseen by Alexandra Gates.

But as the company expands its national presence and strengthens its role in skills development across key industries, Simply Learning has appointed Claire Irving as managing director to lead its next phase of growth.

Another energy price hike? Take back control with solar power

From 1st April, the Ofgem energy price cap is increasing by 6.4%, bringing the average annual bill to £1,849 for a typical household. So what are the alternatives?

Ahead of the price cap increase, we’ve written a timely blog for our client, SWH Electrical Solutions. The article explains why solar panels are a smart investment for homeowners, from reducing energy bills to earning money for excess energy and lowering your carbon footprint.

This blog article can now be repurposed multiple times across different platforms, like social media and email marketing, to increase its reach and highlight the benefits of renewable energy for homeowners.

Hats off to our client, 3C Services, on securing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification for the supply of concrete, materials, haulage, plant and machinery hire to commercial and non-commercial customers.

Adding to their existing ISO 9001 certification, which they achieved in 2023, makes 3C a triple ISO-certified concrete and highways contractor.
